I graduated from Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2009. Since 2009, I am working at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2013, I defended PhD thesis titled "Dynamics of spreading and variability of river plumes in the Coastal Zone." In 2021, I defended Habilitation thesis titled "Structure, dynamics, and variability of river plumes."

My research interests include physical oceanography of coastal and shelf seas, river plumes and estuarine processes, anthropogenic impacts on marine systems.

Main research areas:

  1. Structure and circulation of major water masses (freshened surface waters, Atlantic and Pacific waters, cold dense waters) in the Eurasian Arctic seas.
  2. Propagation and transformation of river runoff in the sea, impact of these processes on the hydrological structure and dynamics in coastal and shelf areas.
  3. Development of applied numerical models: forecasting the timing of sea ice formation and melting in the Arctic Ocean, assessment of strength characteristics of sea ice cover in the Arctic Ocean, the propagation of riverine pollutants in the sea.

I published more than 100 scientific papers and the monograph "River Plumes" (in Russian). My h-index (Scopus) is 24, number of citations (Scopus) is ~1500. I participated as PI in grants received from the Russian Science Foundation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, and international projects. I organized and participated in more than 40 oceanographic research cruises in the Arctic, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans. In 2023, I organized the Arctic oceanography Laboratory in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
