From September 4 to 6, 2026, the annual "Nuclear Festival" organized by NRNU MEPhI took place on the banks of the Volga River in the Tver Region; it was a large-scale science outreach event featuring a "Science Meets Music" format that combined science, art, and sports.

Dmitry Glukhovets, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IO RAS), took part in the festival this year. He delivered a lecture on the environmental challenges facing the World Ocean.

"Speaking at the MEPhI 'Nuclear Festival' offers a fantastic opportunity to discuss pressing issues with scientists — both young and established — in an informal setting. The global ocean is an incredibly complex system where environmental concerns are inextricably linked to energy and security issues. In my lecture, I sought to highlight the challenges facing the ocean environment today, ranging from oil spills to man-made threats on the ocean floor. It is vital that platforms like the 'Nuclear Festival' enable scientists and students to step beyond the confines of academic offices and work together to find answers to major challenges."
